Yes, please. The physics of this are fascinating to me. I've been working on a similar project to Alamosa's and stakes staying in the ground are the weak point in my design as well.

After talking with Cheryl from NoGround hammock stands - and we both have played with the "big orange screw" anchors - we love them! I'm not sure they will in every case replace alamosa types but wow - they work excellent

I've only used the 12 inchers myself ("large") - but the medium size models I bet will work in firm or semi firm ground - cheryl will be testing them soon im told.

did you hear of any results? Depending on type of ground i'm wondering how much these hold vs the other style. I suspect the orange screws are much better in firm ground, but probably worse in not-so-firm ground.. but I'm curious if that's true

You're not wrong, but I think it's because it's a need that's not well enough met, yet. The delta stakes that keep getting posted honestly don't look like they'd hold much better than standard steaks because of how short they are. Plus, I've not had good experiences with that plastic style of stake. The Claw looks great (albeit overkill), but expensive and apparently heavy?

Alamosa, which design and materials did you end up using? I think I'm going to try to make a few myself
