    Weller Thermal Boost

Has anyone seen this yet, or am I (as usual) "A day late and a dollar short" ? I picked one up at Lowes today. It works great on sil and 4mm line (I was using the knife blade) . There is also a foam blade and a smoothing blade. This thing has a max temp of 950 deg. and is VERY light. Hope this link works.http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?actio...0PK&lpage=none

Thanks for posting this, Darby. I was looking for a hot knife and I'll give this one a try if my Lowes has it.

    Hey everybody!

I know nothing of sil or line or what it is made of, but do be careful with hot knives. I do know that some types of foam (like some of the ones you do composite construction of airplanes with) are toxic (actually can kill you quickly) when cut with a blade. Just wanted to say to be careful to know what you are cutting and what fumes it might give off!

    another warning....

don't ever cut shock cord with a hot knife in a closed space. I don't know if it will kill you, but after the people who share your living space with you have finished with their pummeling, you might well wish you were dead.

and yes, this is the Voice Of Experience speaking.
