Hiking, Hanging, and Snowshoeing in June.

My HF buddy, Food, and myself decided to go do a little hiking, snowshoeing and hanging this weekend. It was a great trip.

We hiked up to ~11,200 ft before the snow got too deep and we were post holing even with snowshoes on.

We then backtracked about a mile and a half to a spot we passed with a nice view and made camp.

Day time temps were low to mid 60’s and the evening temp was 41F.
We had clear skies however there was a bit of a haze from the forest fires burning in AZ.

Here are a few picture from the trip I hope you enjoy them.

Awesome photos! It's so weird to see snowshoeing in June.

Did that bird just fly on your hand? I had a finch do that to me once when I was laying down in the woods. Really cool.

Always like seeing your photos dude. Glad you got some time out on the trail and thanks for sharing.

    grey jay

The grey jay on my hand was bribed with sunflower seeds.

Great time. This was a scout trip for the Colorado summer hang.

Thanks all for taking the time to comment on our trip report.
This was my first trip of the year with any serious climbing at altitude.
It did kick my butt and I am still sore today however the memories are well worth a little soreness.

I have uploaded additional picts of this trip on my facebook if anyone is interested.

Hi Fronkey, In Colorado you can snowshoe year around if you like. 45 miles West of Denver there's
ST Mary's Glacier. Tons of fun if you never want winter camping to end...like me :-)

A pair of Gray Jays (camp robbers as they are fondly called) just dropped in on us while taking a snack break.
They were very friendly or maybe hungry it was a long winter with 50% more snow than average.

Hi Shug, Having the Gray Jays land in our open hand was a first for me. It was so neat.
The little unexpected things like this while on trail just makes for awesome memories.

Food- The Gray Jay Whisperer. :-) I can't thank you enough for inviting me
to hike with you this past weekend. I had a great time and can't wait for a
little more of that snow to melt. 400ft of elevation and 1 mile to treeline we got so close.
