Finally bought a hammock and stopped lurking

A newbie from Irmo, SC. Terry_Dodson let me borrow a couple of his hammocks to try out in the backyard and I think I'm hooked.

I finally broke down and picked up a ENO doublenest at the REI sale. Bought some amsteel blue to make my own whoopie slings... Now I just need to get a tarp and some kind of UQ.

Coraline seems to like hammocking too.

nice to see someone else in SC! i have 2 enos and a WBBB on the way (finally).

if you wanted, you can run the whoopies thru the end channel with a larks head (girth hitch?). basically how mines setup but i had a set of continuous loops that i used the same way. just another of the myriad of things you can do with the hammocks!

Initially I had just gathered the ends up leaving that black rope in place and used a larks head to attach the whoopie sling. Then I decided to try and follow the folding technique from the Hennessy Hammock clone threads. It did seem to change the way the hammock lays. I have added an adjustable ridge line too (just the left over amsteel because I don't have zing-it or anything) but have not decided how long to make the ridge line or if I like the hammock ends folded HH style.

    Welcome to the forums!

I was lurking too (for over a year). I've got 2 ENOs. Sold a third one to a friend. Great hang.

I'm going to put woopies on one of mine too. I've been reading about a structural ridgeline. I'm going to make an adjustable one with a woopie sling (from Arrowhead). I was told that you can relax the hang by setting the sag, regardless of the steepness of the straps. It gives you a more diagonal lay.
