Now I see why the Diamond tarp isn't the first choice

I was sitting inside and heard thunder....wanting to test out my new hammock and tarp I decided to run outside and hop in the hammock....well a huge storm blows over me and the foot end of my hammock is soaked! haha Ill for sure be getting a bigger tarp soon

It's nice if you know it's gonna be sunny your whole trip. Basically just use it for shade.

No doubt about it. The stock HH fly has a very steep learning curve.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

I have a HH A-sym Ultralight and never had a problem with the hammock getting wet, and have been in some pretty good thunderstorms, including on top of some mountains.

Having said that, I have gotten wet once out of the hammock itself. The stock rainfly does NOT cover anything at all, except the hammock. I couldn't even stand next to the hammock and get dressed, without my backside catching some rain.

So... I ordered an OES MacCat Deluxe this spring and it fits the bill just fine.

Like all backpacking and much of life, things are a "balancing act." A rainfly/tarp that is too big catches too much wind too easily and that's not good either.
