    Hello from Jacksonville

Hello everyone. I am here today because the Florida heat and mosquitoes have driven me to it. I have NEVER slept in a hammock. I am a transplanted Newfie (Canadian) and cannot handle the heat. Also, the scrub, ticks etc. Just want to start hanging I guess. I have been a long time watcher of Shug's videos. Glad to be on board. Hope to get some good advice in my first purchase.

welcome to Hammock Forums and hey from high point nc.

i lived in south fl from 80 - 94, it took me about a year to acclimate, you'll do fine.

there is a ton of stuff here to read, learn and ask about.
if it's hammock related it's here or still waiting to be invented.
    hang on and have fun.

home is where your hammock is

    Welcome!!
After the obvious difference between hot and cold weather is noted, consider approaching it with the same mindset you took to the cold up in Canada. Respect it, prepare for it, embrace it and then get out and enjoy it! Yes, it can be quite uncomfortable and even deadly if you are careless. And it can be beautiful and inspiring too. The alternative is a lifetime spent under flourescent lights and in front of TV. Just ask jspate61...

Not sure I will ever love the heat. But I am out there. Haven't spent a summer night out is all. I am going to do that in style.
