Bear Burrito Q's?

so i just pulled the trigger on a WBBB and am extremely stoked.

so now im looking into other expensive things. I live in charleston sc and it can be a drastic temp difference between night and day here, especially since i like to hang near the ocean.

im trying to start building the wbbb up with things like tarps and whatnot, (i have that figured out at least) and keeping warm is my next concern.

i know that i still need something for CBS but would the BBO be a worthwhile thing to rely on for warmth? meaning can i skip a TQ? keep in mind the humidity here, i dont want it to rain inside my hammock

I have hung once in beaufort SC when I was visiting my uncle down there. so I understand the Humid issue. IMO the BBO is for very cold weather to use with a UQ and a TQ. it helps to trap the heat in. I wouldnt use one in the south like us until around november or december

hey rev, my winter gear consists of a jrb hudson river quilt and a ba bag on top, this set up has gotten me down to 20 degrees plus wind chill, which is about as cold as we are likely to get here.
for warmer months, i use a poncho liner uq, and a modified cats meow bag. untill it gets too warm. then the pl goes on top.

I think you cant go wrong with any cottage gear maker around here. I believe where we live we only need a good 3 season set to around 20 degrees.

A military poncho liner makes for a great TQ for warm/cool weather

I have the BBO on my WBBB. I used it both nights at the Walls of Jericho hang as a means to keep me warm at night. I slept in a t-shirt and shorts plus a lightweight fleece blanket as a TQ and a single layer of Insultex as an UQ. This was a wonderful combination down to about 60 degrees those nights with the BBO installed which was acting as a dew barrier on top of me, I slept with no tarp up and the BBO vented at the head. I recommend this piece of gear to any WBBB owner.........

thats actually really cool to hear. I would have thought it would have killed ya in the heat by stopping the airflow. I missed the walls of jericho trip

I've used the BBO on my WBBB several times. Once it gets seriously cold (say, 20 degrees F. or less), the interior condensation that freezes on the inner surface starts to be an issue. I find it most useful from around 35 degrees to 25 degrees to mitigate the cooler temps.

I was actually very surprised myself. I found that I could sleep with out the fleece TQ with the BBO vented over my head until right before sun up, then I would pull the fleece over my legs and drift back to sleep. Once the sun was over the hills say 7:30 or so, I would have to remove the BBO to allow the cooler air into the hammock.
