    Attaching Grossgain loops to tarp

Ok, so my seach-fu is weak today (probably lack of sleep) but I just wanted to make sure that I'm going to do this right before I ruin my supplies.

I picked up a 8x10 WW tarp and want to attach Grossgain loops to sides and corners. My plan is to sandwich the tarp between two layers of ripstop nylon sewn on and then sew the grossgain loops (approximately 1" loops) to the outside only edge of the tarp.

Does this sound right? I only have about an hour and have to get everything set up to do this pronto before I need to leave the house for MIL birthday dinner.

I sewed mine on so it looked like the magnetic ribbons you see on cars, like 1 twist, with the top sewn completely on the top side of the tarp, a loop, then bottom sewn up and on the bottom of the other side. Double stitch lines (really a box.) It has withstood winds I wish I had taken it down for. 2 years now.I would only sew at the seams, not on the top of the nylon ripstop triangle, to avoid a line of punctures in the corner body of the tarp that will tear out.
An emergency of my own making...is still an emergency.

That's how I do mine and they seem to hold up well.
I have seen examples of failure where the loop is sewn far up into the tarp, not just on the edge.
