What the heck do you guys use?I've tried razor blades, scissors, knives. They all work the first or second time and then start futzing the end up and barely do a thing. I bought some Fiskar "Razor Sharp" scissors today and they sliced right through it. Tried again and ended up with a fuzzy mess instead.

I use a ceramic paring knife I picked up at the local hardware store. Places like Harbor Freight have them for not very much money. Using a cutting board also helps in the process.

I use a long blade xacto knife and a cutting board. The blade is maybe 1.5 inches long and I give it a good long stroke and even pressure. Cutting board makes a big difference.
Never had much luck with scissors.

All of my knives work well...on a cutting board.
Ditto on what everyone else said about a cutting surface. Makes a lot of difference. I use a wood carving knife with a straight edge, that's easy to sharpen. I get it shaving sharp, and it'll cut amsteel for a while, and then I'll sharpen it. The disposable razor blades work well too, from what I hear.

Xacto, cutting board and holding the line tight makes the cut easier. Watch those fingers but if you hold the line down with your thumb on one side of the cut and your fingers on the other so that the line is pulled slightly tight as you cut with your other hand it makes a big difference than just trying to slice though without the tension.

When the blade gets too gunky, just swap it out.

Ceramic knife, IMO, is the best overall option. Red sent me one some time ago and it has cut alot of amsteel, up to 1/2". Ive even used it to cut vinyl flooring and it still cuts through the Amsteel. It is showing its age and needs to be replaced, but it still cuts.
I have found its very easy to cut through it if you wrap with tape first. Keep the fibers tight where you are going to make the cut and the knife will go right through.
My trauma shears work just fine. no fraying whatsoever
