    Grand Trunk Suspension Mods

My dad recently purchased a Grand Trunk hammock that did not come with any kind of suspension, just some S hooks. He really likes how my WBBB web strap/Biner is easy to set up and I was wondering how I can convert it to that. I dont think he wants to dip into Whoopies or anything.

Being that I have not seen this hammock, can anyone tell me what I should pick up to convert it to a strap, sinch buckle, and biner setup?

Paul at AHE used to sell the same cinch buckles as the WBBB but I think he currently isn't. What you need is some continuous loops of amsteel, descender rings, webbing and carabiners which you can all get from Arrowhead Equipment. Remove the stock cordage and then the continuous loops are fed through the end channels of the hammock and larksheaded and then the loops are larksheaded around the two descender rings. They are used as the cinch buckles but unlike the WBBB buckles require a slippery halfhitch to prevent accidental slippage. And or course as you already know the other end of the webbing and the carabiner goes around the tree.

you will need a pair of chain links, webbing of appropriate length, and a pair of cinch buckles. i have seen several different people recommend these: http://www.onrope1.com/store/index.p...d=118&parent=0

Stu at whoopieslings.com can set you up with the rest of the components (continuous loop, webbing, carabiners)

With my skeeter beeter pro and travel hammock I bought 10' of 3mm cord, 24' of webbing(you can have them sew a loop or tie a loop yourself) and 2 cinch buckles and voila! light and simple enough! Do each end of the hammock just like the factory did only with 3mm cord and a cinch buckle instead of the s hook
