I think I got the best deal ever today on Ebay. I won a new set of Slapstraps for $5.94, that was $0.99 for the straps and $4.95 for the shipping. The only thing is that it does not come with the bag but I dont se that being a big deal..

No offense, but they were .99 cents because they suck. They are referred to as crapstraps around here. They streeeeeeeeeeettttchhhhhh overnight, not cool.
Look into getting some polyester straps from whoopieslings.com or arrowhead equipment.webs. Both of those guys are good to order from, will have them out to you same day. I use 6 foot finished size and have never had problems. Zero stretch with polyester.
Don't be discouraged though, pd. There are plenty of other uses for the slapstraps: hanging gear or a water bag from a tree, roof rack tiedowns, etc. And I'm not too ashamed to admit I use my old ones for my home hanging set up, with a marlinspike and toggle. Work just fine and don't stretch nearly as much as the big brazilian hammock between them!
“Simplicity in all things is the secret of the wilderness and one of its most valuable lessons. I think the matter of simplicity goes further than just food, equipment, and unnecessary gadgets; it goes into the matter of thoughts and objectives as well. When in the wilds, we must not carry our problems with us or the joy is lost.” -Sigurd Olson
Yea by all means use them around the house for whatever, I just wouldn't take them backpacking - polyester is much lighter and will not give you any problems in the wilderness
Sadly, it is true; folks have tried to give these away on the PIF thread, and had no takers, I wish you the best, but hang 'em high- it might keep your booty off the ground, or just use them for shorter (than overnight) sessions.
KM (who really tries to see the good in everything, but this one is a challenge...)
(PS- my best deal ever was a Neiman-marcus fur jacket for 10$ at a garage sale.. that one is going to be hard to beat..)

Hearing all the responses from all you guys I will find other uses for them. I just got the Clark North American and figured I would get the Slap Straps to make hanging quicker but I went and set up last night and with the stock suspension it was quick enough so it's no loss not to even use them. I may just do what Flangler suggested and use them to hang other gear from.
It is amazing to me that they make them still out of nylon.

In all honesty, the hype on here about Slap Straps being like bungee cords is quite inflated. I used nylon climbing spec webbing for over a year. Does it stretch a little? Sure. Can you use it just fine anyway? Yes. I never once woke up with my butt on the ground or anything.
