    I caved!

Yep, I did it. I couldn't hold out any longer - just pulled the trigger on a DL 1.1 AND an Edge tarp .

I tried to put this off, maybe get it as Christmas gift, etc. But the more I looked into a bugnet for my ENO, the more I felt I should just upgrade (yea, thats the story, but we all know i just wanted one.).

Now I'm going to be in a bit of hot water with SWMBO as I have already spent a quite bit this month on camping stuff and gearing up for scout camp. Don't get me wrong, its not taking food off the table, or turning down the AC. But it definitely falls into the "Oh, really, you are kidding" category. So, I need to try out a few justifications - let me know what you all think.

The bug net would have cost $75.That makes the blackbird only $100- what a bargain.

The Edge fly was $91 (-$10 for combo) - How could I not pick that up? The OES deluxe I was looking at would have been $123 (with s/h) and this one is 3.1 oz lighter!

It comes with a bishop's sack.

I was going to need to get a set up for the kids anyway.

I can make my own whoopies, loops and guylines now - think of the savings.

That's all I have, not sure it will be enough. Do you guys have anything else?

Not sure it is enough. One question. How do I get written into your will? I could always use another BB.

Ah, the how am I going to explain this one thread...........you in luck, all you have to do is claim insanity or your credit card was stolen and the gear somehow made it to your house anyway so you might as well keep it!!!!!! On second thought, I have found that jewelry is a wonderful option to help ease the pain your signifigant other will be feeling over the newly "needed" camping gear..........

Can't tell you what has worked, but these explanations didn't:

    Well, its cheeper than:

    Another motorcycle
A new set of golf clubs

    I've actually saved money because:

    I'm not staying at hotels
I'm hiking rather than paying for gym fees

And finally, at least I'm not:

    Robbing banks
    Playing Xbox

    Best of luck!

Tell here its hard to fool around in the woods.

Of course I always order something for the wife's hammock first so its hard for her to complain when I get something for myself.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

Where have I heard that one before?

Just think, you can carry your bed out the door with you when she finds out! You've already got a bed to lay in!

I'm gonna hear it from SWMBO too, if she picks up the mail any day this week. Yesterday it was a flashlight. Today snakeskins (cheaper on ebay, than paying Hennessy $15 for shipping!), hopefully tomorrow my WBBBs?

Tell her "it was on sale" or "it matches my shoes" or other girl-speak. Then when she throws you out of the house, you have a place to spend the night.

    Now that's a prudent investment.

Just scream "IT'S MY MONEY AND I'LL DO WHAT I WANT!"....

Then, when she's actually at home, come up with something much more democratic.
