    Hello from the adirondacks

Hey everyone my name is Ian and was introduced to this forum from DuctTape another member who is also responsible for me becoming a "hanger." He was kind enough to lend me one of his hammocks on a recent camping trip and I was hooked the moment I laid down. Since fathers day was the next weekend my wonderful wife and kids ordered me a new Hennessey Expedition w/ the hex fly. I am trying it out for the first time this weekend up in the adirondacks and can not wait! I look forward to reading a lot of hints and tricks and making many new friends.

Welcome to the Forum! My family built a camp on Blue Mountain Lake in the 1920s and owned it for decades. I have only been up there once, but it was one of the most memorable places I have ever been! I can hardly imagine the amazing opportunities to hang in the Adirondacks! One day I will come up there to spend some time in the outdoors and hanging at night.

Welcome to the addictively dangerous world of hammocking, Ian.

Careful of that D'Tape. Soon enough he'll have you hanging in the middle of winter. He's troublesome like that. ;-)

Thanks for the welcomes and warnings. It's agreed that the adirondacks are a pretty amazing and special place that many people who live around here take for granted. The blue mountain area especially! Your family was very lucky to have a place there. If you make it back here make sure to let us know so we can show you around, it will give me an excuse to tell the wife so I can get out. Ordin Aryguy.......I'm not much of a cold weather person so there's about a 1 to 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 chance of D'tape getting me out there to hang in an adirondack winter. Believe me he tried to make it sound appealing this weekend while we were camping, but I'm not buying it. Had a great time this past weekend on my test run with the new hammock before hitting the longer trails. Best decision I've made in a while and I am not looking back!

Yes, I am a lucky man!

I'm sure I would be fine hanging in the winter, I just like to pretend winter doesn't exist. Years of adirondack winters can make some people a little bitter at the mention of snow and cold.
