poly tree hugger suggested strenght ratins

I have some poly ratchet straps that have a 1500 lb limit and i believe a 500 lb break strenght. What is recomended for tree huggers?

I'm guessing you got the numbers backwards and it should be 1500 lb breaking strength and 500 lb working load limit. They should work fine if that is correct.

I have used the straps cut off of the ratchets to make tree straps, but I'm always leery of cheap ratchet mechanisms although several have used them without problem..

I use poly straps from ratchet straps with no issues as of yet. YMMV

I bought some PolyPro webbing at a boating store. It's stretching far too much. I had some climbing webbing from REI that didnt stretch, but was too heavy to sew. Anyone have an option that would be less stretchy but reasonably sew-able?? I have too much webbing that I can't use at current, and need to buy correctly next time.

Try 1" polyester straps from AHE, diygearsupply, or strapworks.

You can use the climbing webbing,,instead of sewing the loops,,just tie them by using a double figure 8 knot or about any other,,climbing webbing won't break under a good knot.

If you do order straps, may I recommend polyester and not polyproplene. Polyester straps have greater strength. There have been some recent failures with polypro straps rated at only 700#. Nylon tends to stretch, especially when wet.

Thanks, will pick up some polyester. Have PolyPro and Nylon already, I suppose I can put it to other uses.
