    Four point hammock?

My friend would like me to help him make a large wide hammock with a suspension point at each corner to be used socially in the park with two or more people. He's a strange fellow.

Anyway, any idea how something like this would react? I can imagine it being a pain to find a good spot to set it up, but beyond that?

My friend does something like that under his dorm bed and when I tried it, I migrated toward the middle, sort of like lying down on a trampoline.

i was going to say that what is being described is a trampoline, and would cause the couple to be pressed upon each other. You did say "socially" though, and you can't get more social than that

Maybe some sort of spacer system to prevent the middle sag? Just thinking out loud.

    Two or more people?

Uh, post pics when its up and running, I would like to see how they arrange themselves.

An extra-wide bridge style with head and foot ends laced to the beams might work. The beams might limit the sag across the "width" of the hammock. Stretch across the width of the hammock would be somewhat curtailed (depending on fabric type) allowing for minimized tendency of occupants to be squeezed together as long as occupants are arranged with heads and feet toward the beams.

Another alternative is to set up a beam structure with multiple double capacity fabric bodies stretched between them. Attachment of the beams via four seperate vectored anchors might possibly allow for this, though careful thought would be needed to ensure anchor and suspension line strength, beam size and fabric body fabric selection are proper for "social activity" intended.

I tried a 4 point hammock at the local above ground pool / patio furniture emporium and it looked great but sucked. I thought it would make a great bedroom hammock but you end up right in the middle, no diagonal lay possible and it's really hard to get out of as all the sides are so much higher than where you are in the middle.
