Suggestions for gear storage?

In one of Shug's videos I think something like part 4/5 of the Linville Gorge videos. I saw some "end caps" someone made for their DIY hammock. I think it was "Slow Walker". But I could be off on that. I am hoping that he has plans of it that he could put up to the forums.

You can also add a Grizz Beak by 2QZQ for added wind and rain coverage for your asym tarp. Makes a perfect little alcove for a gear hammock.

It is a pretty inelegant solution, but when I motocamp I have sometimes just stuffed my riding gear into a large contractor's garbage bag.

Just like most of the others, I use a trash bag. I use a 1.7 mil, 45 gallon trash bag I got from work. It is big enough for my pack, helmet, gloves, etc.

I would recommend contractor bags and an 18" Gear Tie - a small sheet of tyvek underneath of your hammock, contractor bag on top of that, then a gap, then you, tarp, sky, magical land where Shug get's his coffee, etc.

This is also about what I do. I got a really small, lightweight tarp from an army surplus store near me that I put on the ground. Then I put my pack in a contractor bag and put that on the tarp, along with my boots and camp shoes.

Thanks for the advice! I'd like to try those Grizz Beaks, they look very helpful for a bunch of issues. For now, I think I may try the "Red Green" approach...never thought of something so incredibly simple.

I already carry all gear on the bike, so I just store the gear on the bike, under a bike cover. Easy peasy, no extra gear to carry as I like to use a cover anyway.

I'm not sure if this will help, but i ususally carry a trash bag or trash compactor bag (whatever is available) as a pack liner in my pack. On wet nights, i slip my entire pack in it, fold the top under, and then slide that under my hammock. Usually works fine,

Pure, absolute, unadulterated, GENIUS. I use a trash compactor bag and I stow my gear in it and I know I can use it for a partial bivy, but it never occurred to to put the whole pack in it at night.
