    Hot Weather Top Quilt

Made up a new hot weather top quilt from a sleeping bag liner last night. Was a pretty simple process but not quite as simple as I had hoped it would be. Here's how it went down:

    and the finished product:

Great project, I"ve seen the same line at my Academy Sports and have been planning on doing the same thing. This may just be what I need to get me going.

I'm glad now I didn't get the mummy-shaped version since in the end the bottom end became the top end and the top end became the bottom end...or something like that...

I did one out of 1.1 ACU camo ripstop about 6.5 ft long and 60" wide with a sewn foot box.. Can also use it as a liner. Weighs close to nothing.

Great project idea for warm weather like we have down here in Texas.
I can attest to the "breathe and drown" attitude, because I was stationed
at Fort Gordon for quite a while. I've never seen it so humid and muggy
    even before sunup!

Your idea of using the drawstring at the bottom is a good idea. My girlfriend
likes to have her feet poke out sometime. This would work great for her.
I would be curious to hear how this turns out for you, and how warm it keeps
    you.

I'm not really looking for warmth but a cool cover for summer nights.

With a little luck we'll know something by Saturday morning...

Worked just as I hoped...warm muggy night got and it felt cool against the skin, will have to give it another try tonight...just to make sure.

That is a "cool" idea. Living in Alabama, I have been looking for something similar (with lows around 75, not much is needed).

I have a piece of wicking material from the fabric store, but it weighs about 1 pound. I think I will pay my Academy a visit.

    Hot Weather Top Quilt

Will do. I bought about 7 feet of olive green material from the wicking fabric section of Hancock Fabrics. It is raw material right now, since I am working on a Walmart sleeping bag top quilt project.

The fabric feels like a jersey material, and is very stretchy.

I may do nothing more than serger the raw edges.
