What is this slick orange HDPE line?

An HF veteran made me up a suspension using a slick hi-viz orange 2mm nominal hollow braided HDPE -based line. Whoopies, soft shackles, etc. Finish of the strands seems hard; no fuzziness or difficulty in going between the eight strands when splicing it. I am confident it is 2mm or larger.

No complaints here. But what is it?

I had assumed the stuff was Dynaglide. Amsteel Blue, purchased from a bricks-and-morar marine supplier feels nothing like it, has a softer hand. Some arborists' comments / complaints I have found online suggest I've been mistaken about the identify. They praise the strength, but say Dynaglide is soft in the hand. Some complain it fuzzes up. Not this.

What do I likely have, a differently formulated Dynaglide?

    That's definitely Dynaglide.

It does soften and fuzz up if you handle the cut ends or individual strands. But the coating on it is quite thick, so it stands up well to normal abrasion and splicing.

Dynaglide is stiff off the role, but will soften up as the urethane coating wears.

Also, its 12 strand, not 8.

Dyneema's chemical composition allows it to boast of many characteristics such as:

    Resistance to most chemicals
    Low density
Invisible to ultra-violet light sources and thermal imaging devices
    Floats on water
    Smooth to the touch
    Fire resistant and self-extinguishing
Can withstand extreme cold and hot temperatures
Biologically inert (doesn't cause a reaction to the human body)
Sonic velocity and acoustic impedance near that of water
    High electrical resistance
Elongation at break is low, energy needed to break is high
    Very high strength
here is some more info on dyneema

Wonder what happened to AS and mines posts...?

Anyway.. Dynaglide is stiff off the roll, but softens up as the urethane coating wears. Its also 12 strand, not 8.

CW, Dynaglide is heated and stretched Dyneema. The same fiber as Amsteel Blue, but its put through a process that increases its strength and decreases its diameter. Its also sold under the name "Dynex Dux" in larger sizes.

EDIT: Looks like double thread posting.

Dynaglide is certainly 12 strand, as Opie says, and I've gone cross-eyed trying to count more than 8 strands.

So, maybe, I've been hanging on a suspension with parts rated @ just 650 lb made of 2.2 Fling-It. I don't have enough of it or a gram scale to guess better by using weight per foot. "Very slick" describes it very well; I can see it as a throw line, not snagging on anything.

Let's see, with a load factor of six, if I drop 25lb of body weight, I'll pick up 150lb of much needed capacity.

BTW, anybody motivated by this question to look at lines will see that HDPE tensile strength and price are a linear function of weight. You pay, roughly, by the lb / kg.

Fling-It has a square cross-section and can be identified by that. It will round out when you slide a tight prusik up and down it, but it comes off the spool square.

It also does not "open up" when you compress it and is very difficult to splice. I would think there is no chance that what you have is Fling-It.

It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold
