Method for attaching tarp

My s-biners are attached to prussiks so that the position of the tarp can be adjusted up and down the ridgeline over the hammock.

Gone are my plastic toggles....s-biners for me. But as of now I am just doing a separate line from each end.

thank you Backpacker81! i meant Dutch Hooks - not clips. do you use a prussic knot to attach the hammock? i'll go look at some videos on this so as not to be a pest - i think ShadowAlpha posted the video of the Whoopies Complete System. thank you again for the reply! i think i'm finally starting to understand some of this stuff

My tarp ridgeline is completely separate from my hammock suspension. For the hammock I use the JRB system sold here. You might be thinking os a single line suspension system. So far, I'm too happy with my current setup to wander down that path.

I use these lash-it soft shackles as prusiks attached directly to the tarp.



Tarp line is amsteel 7/64 which I have a fixed eye on one end that I toggle lock and the other end I just wrap around to a 9 on a prusik.

Easy peasy.

S-biners on prussiks for me...they are so quick to adjust and haven't slipped on me yet!

I do not use a continuous ridgeline so I had two separate lines, one at each end of the tarp going around each tree. My method of attachment at the tree is a Figure 9 at each tree.

Yep, This is what I do but I loose those little whachamacallit thingies. I tie a taught line hitch and make it slippery. Easy Squeezie

+1 rope and knots. lighter, easy and adjustable... no parts to lose. heck i don't even use tent stakes, just sticks from the ground.

i didn't pick one cause i use Dutch Flyz .....
with Dutch flyz you save so much weight ... no need for a Con RL

Dutch hooks to attach the tarp, and a Dutch hook on one end of the ridge line coupled with a Dutch flyz to tension it.
