    That shouldn't be a problem, since the pack and straps are located inside the Packa....

    But the pack cover part could see abrasion when you place the pack on the ground. That part could be made of either Spinn or Silnylon (like the current ones) to be durable while the rest of the jacket is as light as possible.

    a cuben packa couldn't cost more than what? 3 or 4 thousand dollars....I need one of those.......

    in Judy's personal Packa she did as AS brilliantly suggests and used sil as the pack cover portion.
    Breathability of cuben nil but considering I had no issues with the Packa in coated nylon with condensation I bet there won't be any in cuben..the pit zips, the 'open' draping nature, the chimney effect, etc. all led to good ventilation with that model.
    Cost effective? just think of a Packa at 6 ounces-takes the breath away thinking about it.

    I know there have been experiments with breathable cuben!(though AFAIK it's not in production yet)
    That would be perfect in this application!
