Ever any central Florida hangs?

I live in central Florida and was just wondering if there are ever any hangs around the area. I'm pretty new to hammock camping and I think it would be great to meat other hangers to see what they use and get some ideas.

Me being new to the whole hammock thing I wouldn't even know where to begin to start something like that. I'm not familiar with the rules if you will as far as where you are and are not allowed to hang.

New to it, too, but a little research reveals that you can not hang in FL state parks. Not anything--not a tarp, not a hammock, not a clothesline, nada. Nothing from any of the trees (though hanging stuff from things like posts or picnic tables are okay in some spots, apparently). Note that this doesn't apply to national parks--like Ocala National Forest.

So, a hang would have to be either a national park (Ocala, Okeefenokee [sp?], etc.) or private land of some sort. Mind you, this is just from lurking here and making a couple of phone calls to confirm what I've read--it sure isn't an exhaustive list of places to hang!

Florida has a law stating you're not allowed to hang anything from a tree in state forests. National forests, water management lands, private forests, etc, are free from this restriction.

If you want to cool off hit Juniper Springs. If you want to have more privacy (sort of) try Hopkins Prairie. Either way Ocala will be uber hot. If you want to hike and hang I'd start at Hopkins and head south to Juniper and then jump in the spring to cool off.

I am down. Rain is welcomed. Keeps the heat down. Water front hanging seems like it would be cooler. Not sure if there is such a place.
