Parking Sandy Ford Rd (or Dicks Creek Rd)

Is anyone familiar with Sandy Ford Rd near the Chattooga River? I'm planning a hike along the Chattooga, and would like to leave my car there for four days. Just wondering if the area is safe, if I'll need 4 wheel drive, etc. Any info would be appreciated...

    Thanks!

Wow how coincidental??? Me and a couple women from the Southeast Womens Backpackers just did that exact section last Monday and Tuesday.

We did a shuttle so that we could do the section running from Sandy Ford to the Hwy 76parking area. We only left the vehicle overnight but I suspect that longer would not be a problem. There is a small stream crossing right before you get to the trailhead but you will be able to cross it with a car. It was around 6 inches deep on both days.

    KP,

Thanks for the info. I was a bit concerned about the creek crossings without 4wd, but sounds like it shouldn't be a problem!
