    Yosemite Trip

Yosemite trip 6/14-6/17. Here is my attempt at filing a trip report. I was never very good at reports in school. Nine of us went backpacking in Yosemite. The first night we stayed at the Backpackers campground by North Pines campground. The water is high so it was flooded getting there. The next day we packed up and started up to Little Yosemite campground via the Mist trail. The Mist trail travels along the falls. We got soaked, but it felt good because it was so hot.

We camped at Little Yosemite Valley that night. The next morning we got up early and headed for Half Dome. What a great hike, lots of great views. The sub Dome is quite a hike in itself. We were bummed because the cables were down but after some manly discussion (yea right) three of us decided to try it. I am so glad we did. What a thrill, it was so worth it.

After Half Dome we hiked back to camp and hung out by the community fire. The next morning we packed up and headed down the John Muir trail back to Curry Village. My friend told me that curry village was like Disneyland. He was not kidding, so many people.

Hope I can make back to Yosemite soon.

Making our way up. The cables were down. Weren't going to be up for a few more days.

You can see one of our friends looking up at us.

Yea, It is beautiful there. Couple of hikers/backpackers lost thier lives on Wednesday because of the rapids.

By the way I see you are in Clovis. We have done a couple of BBQ contests up there. They did not have it last year, but if it starts up again I will let you know. Treat you to some free BBQ.

I hope they get it going again. I was a judge for Brent and Kim when they put on the first competition and it was a blast. Tasted some great BBQ and some that... well... needed a little help. I thought mine could have stood up well to most of it, but that is a grueling competition. I would rather hang out and have your BBQ anytime Brian.
