Hammock suggestions for a big guy?

I'm 6' 5" tall and weigh in at just under 250. Right now I'm hanging in an ENO singlenest hammock and using slapstraps (which i'm not a fan of BTW) They just don't hang the hammock as well as I'd like, and they stretch to much. Anyway, I'd like to get a better rig. I'm already planning on getting a set of huggers and whoopieslings. I haven't heard a single bad thing about using them in a setup. But I don't know what to do for a hammock, any suggestions on a hammock for a larger than average gentleman?

I'm 6'5" and 235 (or so!!). I'm happy in my Warbonnet Blackbird. If I were taller, I'd want a slightly longer hammock, but it works well for me in the standard configuration.

IMO if you like the single nest you'll love the double nest. If it was me in your shoes, since you are going to change the suspension anyway (good choice) get the doublenest and really stretch out.

Edit: Otherwise... you get the continual debate over which hammock is better suited to who and that's all personal opinion stuff. That way lies madness.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Most of the hammock makers have something that will fit you fine. Pretty much all of them post the weight limits as well.

While you have me beat in the body weight realm, I share a similar stature at just under 6'6". I haven't actually laid in any of the ENO hammocks, but I have heard from other tall friends that the double is the way to go. With a wider bed(80" vs 55"), you should be able to achieve a more comfortable diagonal lay.

That being said, I might suggest going the DIY route. Knotty's DIY gathered-end (sticky in DIY forum) is a great place to start, and should save you some pennies. Though most ripstop is sold only in widths ranging in the 60"s, I've found them to be plenty wide but YMMV. Another issue to consider is fabric weight; generally speaking, heavier ripstops stretch less, which will have an impact on your perceived comfort.

On the plus side, most of the wonderful cottage industries (shout-out to www.diygearsupply.com) are turning into one-stop-shops. If so inclined, you could order your ripstop, thread, amsteel, poly webbing, and tech line (ridgelines/tie-outs) all from the same place! Keep in mind this all depends on your skills/ambitions, but I believe that DIY is really the best way to understand this whole world of hammocks. If nothing else, I think you'll find that switching out your stretchy slapstraps and rope for poly webbing and amsteel whoopies will greatly increase your comfort in the singlenest. Keep researching and good luck!

Pffft.... learn the flatfelled seam and you can make any width your little heart desires. The Doublenest is seamed together for width. I made my indoor sleeper almost 8' wide by seaming panels on the side.

Speaking of which, there's always the hammock bliss triple at 8'2" wide.

You might also wanna take a look at the HH Safari, it's their largest hammock. The Eno Double Nest is also a good choice.

Hello, check out Clark Jungle Hammocks, especially their NX-250. It is made for big guys.
The only thing to watch here is that the clark is only 9' long. I know people set the Clarks up pretty tight, but it still may be a little on the short side. I make my DIY Hammocks 11' long, and I'm only 6' 1".

A lot of good suggestions so far though.
