Like the stand. I think I would drill a couple of the bolts and use spring pins instead of nuts so I could break it down fast without tools. ;-)

Awesome great stand. Up-cycling at it's finest.
Hammocking, car camping, backpacking, kayaking, and mountain biking. Getting in touch with nature is getting expensive. Good thing I can DIY!

Thank you. I've seen some at yard sales for $20.00 and $25.00. Most are 8' in length but lengthening is fairly straight forward. Haven't had to take mine apart except to bring it inside, by removing 4 bolts it breaks down into the 2 ends and the toprail.

Just a little rust but nothing a little paint cant fix. I want to thank you for the inspiration. Also wanted to see how long you made your stand and how long your hammock is. Also, what size bolts did you use?

    Thanks!

That's the same stand! Mine was stretched out to 11' with a 10.5' hammock. Construction consist of cutting the toprail at the center, slipping a piece of 1" x hardwood (actual 3/4" x 1 3/4"x approx 8') inside the toprail. Then using the 2 rectangular rails from the swing portion sandwich the toprail and hardwood between the 2 rails and thrubolt with 3 1/2" x 1/4" bolts, qty 5. 1 centered and 2 at each end. Some fresh paint and you'll be hanging. The swing hooks can be used for suspension or threaded hooks can be installed thru the knob holes for a couple of inches more in height. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.

I know! Crazy i found the exact one on my first look...must've been a common one at wally's or something.

One thing, mine has a ground bar between the back 2 legs. Once i lengthen the top bar it will be too short. Looking at your pix i don't see the ground bar. I am figuring it will be ok to leave it off?

I am going to work on mine today!

    Thanks,

Yeah, I just left it off and haven't had any concerns in over a year using it almost every night.
