I used the tech-line for my hammock ridgeline. Made loops through the whipping with 7/64ths, and then made an adjustable ridgeline-whoopie sling out of the tech line. Works great!

Soft shackles / nacrabiners.
Make 'em well and they are splendid gifts. Dunno that they have permeated the hiking community yet as DIY, or are available in stores.
Just work the stopper knot real well. Working tails can be shorter than prescribed if you use needle-nose pliers. You'll see, by the fifth one.
I'm actually all about the soft shackles as i'm trying to do a complete no-hardware setup and will need them in lieu of biners to connect the tarp to the CRLSoft shackles / nacrabiners.

I asked these questions before I made my CRL but just as I was about to cut my Zing-It, I had an epiphany: My hammock (WBBB) comes with webbing... 14' of webbing per side + 8' of hammock = 36'... I will be hanging my tarp from the same trees as my hammock, so if I make them the exact same length as my hammock + suspension I will be covered in any situation!
At first I thought I was crazy for making it that long, but the first time I hung it from the two ideal shade trees in my cabin's yard (about 25' apart) I ended up with only about 4' left of ridgeline rope! I guess I wasn't crazy after all (about the that at least).
