    Anticipation........

When I was a kid, waiting for the cereal premiums to arrive in the mail was agonizing. Be it a baking-powder submarine, a Captain Midnight decoder badge (Ovaltine!) or whatever, the wait was excruciating.

As I have matured (HAH!) I find the wait for new gear to be a bit easier to accept. Today marks the two-week anniversary of me ordering a sewn-through summer TQ from Adam and Jen at HG. I gave them no deadline, and their site lists a 1-2 week lead time to sew. And I don't need it until July 15th.

Yet my excitement builds as the days go by. Only a matter of time now until the notification of shipping hits my e-mail. One would not think that the USPS service from central Ohio to southern WV would be slow, but sometimes I wonder if the mail goes via Chicago or Pittsburgh! By stagecoach!

And when it arrives I will collect the cherished box from the mailroom (they know to treat my arriving packages with respect) and slink back to my office. There I will excitedly pop the tape and extract the stuffsack containing the much-anticipated 900 FP wonder of lightweight warmth. I will drink in the aroma created by the synthesis of synthetic material and natural insulation. I will gently fluff the TQ, marveling at its gossamer feel. ANd I will lovingly drape it over my coatrack to complete its expansion.

Is this a form of delayed gratification?

    I do love new gear!

Feeling that way about some kit I ordered from MBD (i have heard it has arrived and am hoping that my informant will be so kind as to remember to bring it to me tonight!). I also have some great TQ's coming from a member here that I am very excited for!

    Cool!

I don't have any of my childhood trinkets. My Grandmother lived with us, and she was big on throwing out "toys that he has grown out of".

I am right there with you. I tried contacting stormcrow and Jenny and I think they are celebrating the 4th somewhere. I think they need more gingers around that house. I have some very special gear being made and I cannot contain myself. It will come and I will love it. I will forget all about the long days and long nights that I have to wait in anticipation. I did consider asking doctors to put me a drug induced coma to help take the edge off the wait. Instead i am just trying to preoccupy my mind with old Beatles tunes and different recipes for making Shoe Fly Pie.

The trick here is to order so much gear that your always busy playing with something new, then you don't think about it as much:P ...Or you go mad...
