Tim, yes as a matter of fact, the way I have it configured I glued the light to the to of the jar and these duo project a strong beam directly ahead of the led. If you were to clip it to your ridgeline out should allow you to read. The picture I took outside was crummy because it was taken with my phone and it does not do well in low light conditions at all. I well also try to get some pics with my camera this weekend too.
sorry about spelling I'm on my phone

As I've been looking at the pics more closely, it looks like you've got the light glued to the lid (WAY smarter than string through the top ). If so, can you read by it?

Sorry about my post timing (I'm on my phone as well, which means I'm 5-10 minutes slower than I should be).

Thanks for the (too) prompt reply--gonna have to give this a whirl now

you should be able to read by it. I'll try that this weekend also.

That is slick, I like posts like this. Very creative and very cheap. It is what we call win, win, won.

Yes, Knotty. I couldn't post a direct link last night cause I was on my phone. I'm doing a burn test on one right now. I put it in my dresser drawer last night at 9 and at 7 this morning it was just as bright as last night. I'm still tweaking the design but I think for less than $2.00 investment it is going to be hard to beat.

As you do the burn test compare the output of the test light to a fresh one. To me, once the original gets to half the original brightness it's done. The run times on light is usually over stated because as long as there's visible light they count it.
