    Untieing knots after toggle use

I haven't seen where others are having this problem but if I use toggles (and I don't anymore because of this problem), I can't seem to untie the poly knot afterwards without a lot of effort. I haven't ask this before because it's a bit embarrassing to screw up something this simple and after spending far too much money on my teeth lately, I vowed not to use my teeth anymore.

I know that after pulling the toggle, I should be able to yank and the knot jerk loose but nada! I'm not a small guy and maybe that is the issue. Anyone else having problems or is it just my and too many cheeseburgers?

Properly tied the hitch will pull free with ease. Cheeseburgers do not faze it. I know!
Look at Grizz's video on suspensions for a clear description of how-to the Marlin spike hitch.

Will do. I have watched it and felt I was following the directions but since it's me talking, I never underestimate the ability to screw up the simple things.

    Thanks!

Yea, its not the cheese burgers (trust me, I have had a lot). I can pull out the toggle and the knot pulls out directly and without force. I learned the knot from one of Shug's videos where he says something like: "put the line on the knot not the toggle, knot not the toggle." Man that always make me laugh for some reason.....

Here is the link to that video. He starts talking about how to tie the knot at about the 4 minute mark. Shugs videos are great to watch..

Plaunius, it's not just you. Some strap materials tighten up a correctly tied marlinspike hitch more than others.

I found the stock tree huggers that came with my hennessy didn't free up well when doing a marlin spike so I swapped them out with DIY's, much easier now

+1. I had the same issue. I use a titanium stake as a toggle, so it has a small diameter, the MSH is sometimes difficult to take out with such a small toggle. I found that if I used a larger diameter toggle or just changed out the straps to a different material, the knots came out much easier.

A wider diametre toggle may help.
