I picked that one up a few weeks ago for $37. Sierratradingpost always has 2-3 prices depending which discount code you find/use. It drives me crazy.

I'm interested in the "Defender" because of the battery size availability in Germany. My friend over there says the other models have the "hard to find" size batteries. I'm still looking

Standard CR123's, like many cameras take. I don't think they'd be too hard to find. Get a box of Surefire's from Amazon. Should have a shelf life of 3 to 4 years.

My friend says the AA size are more readily available.

I noticed also these two units are made in the USA for our military. I just may get one for my own use.
