Tortoise never for a moment stopped, but went on with a slow but steady pace straight to the end of the course.

That's great Triggerhpy! How's Holcomb during summer i.e., do you have to reserve a space months in advance? how many campers per site? (I see site fees are around $16 bucks per vehicle.)
If possible, I propose an outing at Holcomb in mid-late August!
Holcomb valley some years have been hot dry and dusty. This year has been very nice. http://www.bigbearlake.net/businesse...tm/busnid/1107
Holcomb Valley Campground is located in the historic Holcomb Valley, just north of Big Bear Lake. In 1862, a grizzly hunter named Bill Holcomb discovered gold just north of Bear Valley in what is known today as Holcomb Valley. To reach the campground take Van Dusen Canyon for 4 miles then turn left. Adventure passes not valid in campgrounds

I thought the cause was worthy enough of a Public Google Docs spreadsheet. We could get a nice long list going. Here is the link, feel free to add new columns for new subject matter. These are a few of my favorite places.

Because you fall through the clouds if you try to lay on them, so the next best thing is a hammock.
That's a great idea! Thanks for posting this...I'll be adding to the list shortly.
I'll post a couple spots when I get home. For those that know local areas, There's Blue Ridge Campground, and lots of stealth camping around, on the PCT outside of Wrightwood. Start from Inspiration Point near Mountain High.
Another is John's Meadow, outside of Big Bear. It's about a 4 mile walk from the trailhead, no access by vehicle at all. It's an awesome place to hang.

Great info, Thanks everybody.
