Amsteel Blue "Silver"?

Is Silver just Amsteel Blue that isn't dyed?

I have always used black, but it does come off on your hands. Do all the colors bleed? Actually now that I think about it, the blue doesn't bleed... What about the other colors?

All the colors bleed to some extent (even the blue...hence the term 'smurf hands'). It's just some of the coating rubbing off on your hands.

Grey does this less than the other colors from what I've noticed, but still does some.

It washes off easily enough, at any rate.

Is it possible to by the dye? Someone told me that the dye will fade over time due to UV and to keep the rope in good shape I should re-dye it.

I doubt it. The coloring appears to just be a coating that comes off quickly in high wear areas. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

I would suspect that repetitive dying would cause degredation to the rope as well.
