    Supershelter

I know I hear lots of stuff about underquilts and all that but I think the supershelter is aweasome. Ive used a UQ once and it was nice but I Just bring my supershelter under pad and most of the time forget to bring the undercover and its super light and works great. it hangs tight against me while I lay. Ive laid in the shelter down to about 40 or so but I also live in SC and havent ownded it that long but I love it and I definently would recommend someone purchase one if they were looking for under protection. its only 29-34 dollars for the pad that hangs under the hammock from hennessy hammocks. I just think its an aweasome little system. I havent tried the overcover but I believe ive read some nice reviews of it. Just havent heard alot about the supershelter in awhile and I had a nice trip with it the other night and wanted to rave about it.

I have one and never had it on yet. I'm thinking it will be my set up for the HH once I get a WBBB. I believe the super shelter will find a place in my winter set up. We shall see.
I like refried beans. That's why I wanna try fried beans, because maybe they're just as good and we're just wasting time. You don't have to fry them again after all.

I love it and yea I found my summer set up to be just the underpad. it weighs nothing and since the pad holds tight to your body under th hammock its way more comfy then laying on a pad in your hammock. im sure you will love it.

Thanks for the report, NGT! I have never used mine without the UC, I'm surprised it stays tight against you, but good to hear! At least you will have no condensation worries as some folks do ( not me ). I assume you are also NOT using a space blanket with that set up?

At what temps were you OK with just the pad?

I still use the pad as well even though I converted to a WBBB 1.1 Works great in the double layer. If it gets below 40 I just throw my emergency space blanket in there and good to go. However I do have the advantage of sleeping like a furnace.

I knew you were the man who would appreciate this haha. I went down to 55 with the underpad and a 50 degree bag and thats it. i was warm the whole time. I do believe the underpad will be my summer setup. it all happened as a mistake because I forgot the undercover. but it turned out great.

I've been content with the SS and have taken it down to 24 w/o any problems. I've recently switched away from the Hennessy and ordered a UG to go with my new Light Hiker. I'm looking forward it the new combo but wouldn't be worried about using the SS again.

    Hh Ss

Don't forget that the under cover blocks the wind or breeze, so, without it, you could be a little drafty, and maybe cooler, even in somewhat warm temperatures. Experienced that my first time out.
Since I retired, some times I stay awake all day, some times all night.

I'm a firm believer in my SS. I bought it back when I bought my HH Exp Deluxe. It's kept me warm below the freezing mark. If the temps get so low that the SS will do me no good, I'm probably not gonna be out in the first place. I see no fun in having to get in the full arctic get up to camp. I have stuff I can do indoors during those times. I don't see myself changing systems any time soon. I paid too much money for this system to move on to something else for the sake of trying something else. When I wear this one out, I may try out a WBBB.
