Help me (screaming in terror)

I an planning a 4 day backpacking trip. One of those 20 miles a day in the mountains, killer trips. It was my idea to take a hammock. Help the back day and night.
I need help on all aspects. First what fabric do i need? I was thinking double layer uncoated 1.9 oz. rip-stop nylon. I am a heavy person, around 6' 4" and 210lbs.

You don't need to go to 1.9 double. If you prefer double, get the 1.1 oz/sy ripstop nylon.

A double layer would be a good way to go. Better support and I like being able to put my pad between the layers.

The blackbirds have the double/single layer in different weights with recommended limits. Looks like double 1.1 or a single 1.7 would be great for 210 lbs. Single 1.1 might also be doable, at your own risk.

But, it may be wise to buy your first hammock. You'd be far more sure it'll work as intended and other people will be able to more easily give you hanging advice.

go with the single layer, why double the weight? put your pad on top, you'll eventually end up with an under quilt someday.

For 210lbs, I'd either go double 1.1, or single (anything heavier than 1.1) ripstop nylon is always a good choice, just make sure it's uncoated.

Realistically, any good commercial hammock (there are many inexpensive options) would work as well, though given your height, I'd find one at least 10' long. I am 6' and my 10'6" hammock is really comfy...

Ask TFC Rick (who's 6'4 and a bit over 250) likes his double layer 11'er...

I am a tad under 200 lbs and my DIY is a 1.1 double that I made a little longer than what the plans suggested (height plus two feet extra on either end). I chose this for two reasons. 1st is so that I could use a pad if I wanted to and 2nd is the flying blood suckers are not supposed to be able to penetrate through a double. So far, no bites on my butt, so I am inclined to believe this is true.

Hey, I'm guessing lots of folk have stumbled onto this post via the "new posts" button- however note that it is in the DIY section!

Woodduck, the quickest way to get a hammock: ripstop nylon (uncoated, either 1.1 double or 1.9 single) some heavy duty polyester ratchet straps (1000lbs breaking strength, cut off the metal) and a bug net of some sort. You'll also need a tarp.

Don't forget that you'll need under insulation as well as over insulation in a hammock.
