Black Forest Trail is a beast. Very difficult climbs and descents. I would not recommend that for a trip just released to hike again. 42 miles of nothing but hills. It is a great challenge. The Susquehanock trail system is a real possibility. 72 miles. Only one very difficult climb from what I understand. I've done bits and pieces but not the whole thing.

edit: Lots of bail out loops and cross trails so if things get hairy you can cut it short with a fair amount of ease.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Oh yeah, forgot about the "freshly released" partner, black forest is probably too much.

I did the OLP in 3 days, but we went backwards of normal. From masten, we went right instead of the normal left.

You need seek no rocky summit, for these high places are within you.

You're selling me on the swimming! yeah as much as I want to do the Black Forest Trail, Im usually overly ambitious for my hiking buddy (he's more "in shape" but always injured lol) so maybe we can save it for the fall.

I guess the Susquehannock is more like 85 miles. The link takes you to the trail website.

    Rook,

Minor correction - it's the Monongahela Nat. Forest, not Nat. Park. BTW, check out the MidAtlantichikes page for tons of info. If you want really detailed stuff on the Mon NF let me know.

Any way to bisect the route in order to shorten the loop. Something like a connector trail between Williams Farm and Dead Pig?

I think I have the guidebook somewhere. If I can find it I'll see what I can dig up.
