I have two that are due to deliver Wed. I will cut mine center back and make as small a fold over as I can and sew a 3/4 nylon ribbon over it. I think grosgrain would be too rough feeling at the back. This should stop any fraying and give it a finished look.

These are my wife and daughters bags so I'm sure the width will be find for them. I'm curious as to the official temperature rating too.

found it on departmentofgoods.com...... it says 55F, but with 7 oz of 850+ down i think you can go alittle lower. thats just my 2 cents.

Doody, I saw your SHT load out video and was wondering if this is how you opened your bag, and if so, hows it holding up?

Just ordered 2 of these. I searched and finally found a site that had it listed as a 32 degree bag. With the hammockgear being rated at 35 with the same fill I'd say this is as close as you can get to being accurate. I'm a warm sleeper and I figure with a silk liner I should get another few degrees out of it. Living in Georgia and being originally from south Louisiana this is about as cold as I can take anyhow.
If it weren't for physics and law enforcement, I'd be unstoppable.

No, I sewed a 1/2 inch hem on each side of the slip, then bartacked the seams together for strength. I just spent a few days on the superior hiking trail and this top quilt worked perfectly. Temps were in the 50's at night and I was too warm at times with this and my DIY insultex/PLUQ underquilt.

I'm glad to hear the bag worked good for you. I checked out your vids on the SHT, looks like you had a good time. I just got my bag today and went ahead and opened it up with scissors and a lighter. I'm a 14 year combat vet and Law Enforcement to boot so I care about it being pretty, just as long as its useful. I'll post a full write up with pics as soon as I get a chance to test it out.

I have thought about this bag since the thread came out. looks like a good deal
Dale Gribble: I'm thinking, "new hammock." For me, laying and swaying in a hammock is like a steady morphine drip without the risk of renal failure.

Randy : yea but just remember yer roots and where ya come from....you got Hennessy in yer blood son......

I'm thinking about ordering this top bag as well. Will a 6'0" person fit comfortably? I'm worried about it being a bit too short.
