I just laid mine on the floor (relaxed, not stretched out tightly) and it measures 6'3". I'm 5'10" and I can pull it over to cover me face. I'm a XXL boy and displace a lot of area in that bag and for me it's still longer than I need.

Do you think it's difficult to take the loose sides and fold them over and stuff with more down to widen the bag a little more?

I don't think it is needed. Any additional width would be wasted down on me, most likely compacted under me.

    I'm 6'1" and 240 ... think it's wide enough?

I had it in the checkout and was just about to pull the trigger then had second thoughts. They still had 63 left so I've got a bit of time to make final decisions.

I tried my JRB UQ as a top last night as it's about the same width. Coverd OK and didn't feel any cool air but the basement isn't 30 degrees.

Well I received my 2 RAB top bags. They are very well made. Now I have to mod them. I think I'm going to cut the fabric on the back leaving about 6" on each side to act as a draft drape. I believe I read somewhere that it has a rating of 32 degrees. Even though it has only 7oz of down it lofts up really well, at least as much as my Mountain Hardwear subzero jacket. And I have worn at down to single digits comfortably. The weight in the stuff sack is 1 lb 1.3 oz.
If it weren't for physics and law enforcement, I'd be unstoppable.

I believe the rating is 50 7 oz of down could get you to 32. i believe that rating is for that gray and orangish bag.

The rating is 32-55 degrees, whatever that means, according to Amazon that was also selling this bag. Its 7.1oz of 850 fill power down so I would say its good down to 40 or lower. It should have the same rating as the cheaper bag just no hood. I've had mine in the 50s and cooked with my PLUQ. Had to take my feet out of the footbox.

    I found this on BPL.

    http://www.backpackinglight.com/cgi-...op_bag_gg.html

If it can get me down to 40 by it's self than add a liner and I'm a warm sleeper anyway so I think it'll do what I need it to.

Here's why its so hard to find a rating on these bags.

    From RAB's website:

As this is technically only 'half' of a sleeping bag it is not possible to test it using EN13537 testing procedure - as such no official temperature limits can be given.

    OK OK OK,

I'm gonna place my order in a couple hours when I get home. Man, the GF is gonna come to hate this place like she hates nutnfancy, "Its just an excuse for you to spend more money on gear" - I can hear it now.

I'm want to turn this into an under quilt while preserving it as a top quilt. I'm thinking cut the foot box open and add in a separating zipper for starters. Any other suggestions?
