$100 Pertex 800 fill top quilt

OK I've read this thread several times, but it is 14 pages long so I may have missed it. What are the dimensions? I see its 40" wide. How Long? Also what would the bottom dimmension be if the footbox was opened and laid flat?

For those that like a hood I've just modified the hooded version of this bag so its entered by the back. Too easy- slide feet in foot box, then put hood over head and done. Freedom of a quilt with a hood :-)

Until I saw this I had not thought of any way of getting under the covers in a hammock than the way I had been doing it: Putting the the TQ down, getting in under it, and finding the foot box, not always easy in the dark.

Seeing these pics also informs of why a footbox formed by gathering can be useful:

• You can step through the vertical portion of the box -- stove pipe (even wearing shoes)
• 
  sit down on the hammock
• 
  pull off your shoes,
• 
  swing feet and body up and in
• 
  tuck knees up to withdraw feet a little and pull the footbox bottom cord closed
• 
  and stretch out, with quilt in place.

With what you've done, you sit down and take off your shoes first. But, still easy.

hard to say, I could guess that the baffles are around 2" tall

I have not opened mine. By pinching at baffle seams on opposite sides and pulling, I have estimated the baffles to be 4". I sense more, but that sensing is likely biased by the baffles being of stretchy material.

I hope someone who has opened one will report the actual baffle height. It would seem the baffles are much taller than craft practice as we know it from hammock quilts or major quality makers.

Baffling of 2-4 inches does imply that the quilt could be filled with much more down before being in any sense overstuffed. Of course, the greater cold you would be trying to protect against, the more important adequate width would be. Overstuffing the baffles will shorten them.

Measurements and label reports.

The bottom is a 10" x 11" unbaffled rectangular chamber.
The footbox filled with down rises about 18"
The overall length is 74", not 86.6" as the US-required tag says. The discrepancy is accounted for by the width or length of the bottom panel.
The down filled front is 21" wide 18" from the bottom, where the footbox stops in back.
Baffle spacing is mostly 5".
The sil-nylon stuf sack included is 7 1/2 in diameter and 16" long.
The shell (bag) is Chinese made in PRC (China), and filled in the UK with 7.1 oz EU down (96%)

Another testing report.

Slept in this quilt last night at temps between 30F and 27F.
Similar to before, light thermal bottoms, t-shirt, medium weight fleece top, and stocking cap.

No tarp, very little wind. Winter under quilt.
I slept great, nice and warm.

This quilt is a great 3 season piece of gear.

Cut down the back and heat seal the raw edges. Hem if you like.
