Shock cord on tarp pull outs

I realize that this might be kind of a dumb question but I've never shied away from those before.....

I just got a new tarp with panel pulls. Watching Shug's video and reading lots of posts has convinced me that shock cord is the way to go on the panel pulls. It seems that most everyone just ties their shock cord onto the panel pull, but what do you do at the stake end? I'm afraid to tie a knot in the cord that will just pull out with some tension or that will tighten up so much that it's impossible to undo.

How do you attach the shock cord on your pull out to a tent stake?

I avoid staking them, usually by tying them off using an adjacent tree branch, or something heavy and stationary.

I made my own STL's (self tensioning line's) for each of my tie-outs and pull-outs. I have a 6 inch piece of shockcord on each of my tie-outs and panel pulls and then I clove hitch or larks head zing-it line to the end of each shockcord. The zing-it is what gets connected to stakes.

A marlin spike hitch (MSH) works well. Pull the stake out of the MSH and it undoes pretty easily. It does get the cord dirty though. Tying them off higher like to another tree or tree branch creates a bit more room under the tarp.

I use the same attachment for my side pullouts as for my corner pullouts. Looped piece of shock cord girth hitched to the pullout on the tarp and girth hitched to the Dynaglide. That way, the Dynaglide is taking the abrasion of the stake and not the more fragile shock cord.

I went ahead and tied a loop in each of my shockcord panel pulls. A simple overhand knot seems to hold mine fine. I did leave about an inch tail and was sure to tighten the knot as much as I could to avoid the knot pulling out.

I'm like Rook... I don't like to stake them out, I've found you get much more room if you tie it high to an adjacent tree or branch. Normally I'll use a stick as a toggle to keep it tied out. Just loop the end around the branch, feed the working line through the loop and insert toggle.

That makes a lot of sense; having shock cord on the panel pulls. I will acquire some shock cord soon...

I like it on at least two of them as I can pull them back for entry and egress when hunkered down.

He just seemed so pleased with the ability to flip the shockcord out of the way for access that I couldn't say "no" to the idea.

Either a simple overhand loop or a fisherman's knot works well.

Does anyone have some close up shots I can see? Off hand, which one of Shug's videos has this on it? Tarp rap?
