Shock cord on tarp pull outs

The way I have mine set up on my WB Superfly is I tied a loop at each end with a simple overhand knot. I fed the loop through the gross gain panel pull and pull the rest of the line though the loop for easy take off and putting on. Then I take each line bring them to one point and stake the the loop in the ends with one stake. Hope I helped

Here is my adaptation. A small loop of 1/8" shock cord and a prussic loop connected to the tarp tie-out. The actual guy-line is also connected to the tarp tie-out in case the shock cord or prussic should fail. The prussic makes for easy adjustment from under the tarp.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I wasn't totally clear on my bump. I use a version of a tarp tensioner with shock cord loops and line locks on my corner tie downs. I was talking about the pullouts that are used to create more interior space. Shug uses a full length of shock cord for his. I love the stretch, but it really sags in on me during sustained high winds. I was up in the BWCA and we had a night of estimated 40 mph sustained winds. The shock cord allowed the sides to cave in on me. I was thinking of switching to a more traditional line, with maybe some small loops of shock cord to allow a little flex, but not allow the sides to cave in on me. Anyone have any thoughts on this or had the same problem?

I see! Generally, short pieces of heavier shock cord with the remaining line static, is better than long pieces of shock cord.

Yep. I just tie a shock cord loop on each pullout and tie line to the shock cord loop.

Thanks for the input. I assumed this had been thought about before. I think I will go with Glowire (whenever it gets back in stock) so I don't accidentally take my head off at night.
