Ok so we are back from Jenkins Creek. Tenbeers, myself and the kids went and we had much fun. We had the whole place to ourselves. The new WBBB and Superfly were immediately immersed in a nice thunderstorm. Of course it worked, its a workhorse of a system. I did swap the strap and line suspension for my DIY Whoopie Slings and straps. I also made some toggles from some aluminum hollow round stock I got from Lowes. This, combined with my Zingit CLR and thanks to who ever thought to use prusik knots for the tarp, worked very well even with my limited understanding and ability to DIY. Didn't think to put shock cords on the pullouts for the Superfly and I wish I would have. I wont bother to do a big review of this system as its reputation was all that and then some from my perspective. Brandon will get more business from me. His attention to detail and willingness to answer emails is enough for me to want to spend my money there. Do yourself a favor and find out what I am talking about.
Dinner first night I would have to say was pretty darn good. With the expectation of others possibly dropping by, the need I have to try to cook beyond my materials and conditions at hand, as well as a love of food and watching people enjoy what I cook, we had some great steaks and potatoes. This was what the campers said so I have to take their word for it.
Breakfast this morning consisted of the following:
Coffee made with the GSI coffee press. Really like this thing. Great coffee, no coffee grind, and time the water is about to boil plus 5 min and you got your self a great beverage. Now its bulk for sure but for me and my coffee habit it will have to come along. Heat source of choice was a alcohol stove and stand combo I made.
Next was Pancakes, Bacon, and Eggs all cooked on the MSR International Whisper Lite. Man this worked well. Again the camp party was all quite as we ate all this. Oh yeah we enjoyed that left over steak for breakfast.
It was hot as all you know what and that was a challenge but we managed through. Got to test a bunch of my equipment which for most was its first time out of the bag. Learned a bunch. Pictures will be coming but for now its still unpacking time so they will have to wait.
If you decide you want to take a trip out there then tell them Mike sent you. They are some really great people and could use the business. They don't have potable water yet so be prepared for that. The Tallapoosa runs right by you so you'er not going to run out of water. Great fishing, and facility. We took the 1/2 day canoe trip which really was only about 2hr. Lazy paddling.
