In the technical world, this is what manuals are for. So that people from all walks of life who speak and read a common language can speak to one another and be understood. But local terminology still creeps in. A Millwright from Rockford Illinois will know what I mean when I say "throw me those gowwies". Wouldn't we all need to buy the same sewing book? Then we would all be on the same page, and speaking the common technical language of the sewing trade. Necessary? No. But it would be nice.

The DIY sheet is what prompted me getting up off my butt. In the interest of full disclosure I did not post my original post with the intention of influencing his sheet indirectly. Scott and I have had some PM conversation over the concerns of clarity. What he does with his sheet is obviously up to him. Given the wide readership of the forum I felt the subject warranted some public discussion.

additionally, it is equally obvious my recommendation has no standing officially. I will be revising my wording to reflect what is a more accurate description of the seam.

Scott... please accept my assurance this was not an end run around your creative freedom. I had intentionally tried to keep my references to your sheet at arms length. But as long as it is now connected I hope you do not feel I have stepped over a line.

When I joined in April of 2008 the DIY section was miniscule compared to what it is now. That's about when the "thread injector" was coined. It was all very much tongue in cheek. I don't think any one is seriously tied to that terminology. Recently with the growth of the DIY section it has receded more into the background. The only "sewing" reference I try to avoid is "sewer". That has always bugged me. So I use Stitcher. As far as "thread injector" is concerned... it's no never mind to me.

And I thought I was alone on this forum.

From my recent start here, "thread injector" just wasn't right (my dad has collected hundreds of sewing machines).

I have struggled not to use either term and carefully talking about stitching to avoid it.
