    Superfly question?

I was just wondering if the superfly tarp comes with a stuff sack? If not what do you store it in?

The camping hammock lends luxurious comfort and solitude to that which would otherwise be a vulgar frolic in the dirt.

I recommend Mountain Goat's mesh sleeves as well. I also like the Hennessy snakeskins but the mesh is good for wet weather.

Just goes to show, things aren't always as they seem. When I saw the mesh sleeves my first thought was they would be lousy for wet weather because they wouldn't be water proof. Is the thought that they wouldn't keep the water in? How do you pack them inside your pack so that the tarp doesn't drop all its moisture into your gear? Is the idea to have snakeskins for your hammock to keep it dry but mesh sleeves for your tarp to let it dry out? Oh and type slowly because I'm a slow learner please.

yep, mesh lets the tarp breath. if its wet i fold the mesh tarp sleeves and shock cord them to the exterior of my pack to let it dry out.
i like to keep my tarp right on top for easy access and quick deployment.
i keep my hammock, uq, sleeping bag, ridge line light and whatever i think will be needed inside the hammock stowed in a lazy slug tube.
i cram that whole thing into my pack liner (trash compactor bag) and compress it all down in the pack.
it seams big and clumsy at first sight, but it is a easy and quick way set up and pack out.

I had been wondering about those tarp sleeves and now that I see several folks giving it high marks I must order a set. Right now I keep the Superfly in a mesh Sea to Summit bag and it works well. It's less than 2 oz so I won't be saving much weight but, I still like the mesh snakeskin idea better. Seems it would be faster to deploy and undeploy <--- Heeheeh is that a word.....

The long, skinny profile of the storage tubes

will expose more surface area of a wet fly for drying, but remember that you will have to do the final drying with the fly hung. A wet fly in the tubes will still have areas that never come into contact with dry air, so please prevent the funk!
