It was definitely a trial of patience for me! My mom taught me to sew and now she can't believe all the stuff I'm making.

Do you mean, do I make gear for people on the side? I would but I find making gear is such a big time commitment for me. That, and I will be starting school this August where I'll be away from the thread injector at home. Did you have something in mind?

Very nice! I plan to attempt my first tarp soon. I am having trouble finding or figuring out basic pattern with cat cuts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you! For my cat cuts: I hung a string along the edge of a piece of posterboard on the wall. The posterboard was the length of my tarp edge, before the cat cuts. Then I spraypainted this, while it was hanging, and where the string was I had a nice line on the posterboard to cut along for a template. I made 2 templates:



I used these to transfer the curve onto my big blue paper you saw in my first post. I couldn't hold the template straight while it was directly on the Sil so I had to use the paper. My original design on paper might help you out some:



If you wanted cat curves of a similar depth per unit of length, mine were 3.25" deep (at the very middle of the curve) by 4'6" long and 4.875" deep by 6'6" long. Let me know if I made this too confusing, haha.

Chicky, glad to see you got this post all up and organized - the tarp looks great! 15 oz is certainly plenty respectable, and it looks like that tarp is going to last you many, many hangs. Enjoy the handiwork and get out on the trail .
