Been looking around for a tent pole to hack up from a local outdoors store but have been out of luck so far. Where can I get some toggles or a tent pole?

Even easier, go to the local big box (Wally World), and pick you up an aluminum arrow.... wider the better (makes a bigger knot). May be cheaper than the tent pole.
.... the Aardvark (earth pig)... a rather unremarkable creature whose sole claim to fame is that it is the first animal listed in the dictionary.

Well shoot....easy enough.
THANKS!!!
I purchased a tent pole repair kit at Sports Authority pretty cheap. Got two really good toggles out of it.
I just got a piece of 1/2 inch metal conduit from Home depot. It cost $2.00 for a huge rod and I have yet to run out of the stuff and have made a bunch of toggles for me and my friends.

You know... if there's sticks you can make toggles as you set up and not have to carry them. A tent steak will even work.

Got my tent pole "repair" from REI that had a few different sizes...I like the big gold colored ones.
Then again I understand that not everyone has an REI in their town...so take some of the suggestions of others.
I miss my 4.8Lb base weight as a ground dweller...But I sure DON'T MISS the ground.
Aluminum knitting needles and a tubing cutter. The large sizes are fairly cheap, the tubing cutter cuts them easily, sand the sharp edges and as the french would say "voila!". They also make nice, anodized, lightweight stakes.
An emergency of my own making...is still an emergency.
I farmed out a bunch of freebies to other HF members here: http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=31006
Gt a 3 foot solid aluminum rod from Lowe's. Made great toggles.
