    Shiny...mmm...Shiny

I was wondering if there was a benefit of the shiny side out or the flat side out when making gear...I ask this question when made half of my snake skins and i was like "mmmm, Shiny" followed by "Crap, Shiny needs to be inside or does it" *points to the sky* "To the Forums"(creepy guy voice from "to the Cloud commericals")

The "shiny-ness" is caused by the material being calendared. That is a process where the fabric is compressed between two rollers, with one or both being heated. This flattens the round fibers making the fabric downproof, for instance.

So, if you are making a quilt, you want to face the shiny side in, against the insulation.
