    Diy Hammock Pillow

Was bored tonight and wanted to sew something, so I decided to make a pillow with some of the left over ripstop from the last hammock. Its Black 1.9oz. Ripstop, And I started with a piece about 1' long, cut from a 60"wide piece. I sewed the 2 sides together to leave the top open, and I triple stitched the 2 seams for strength. After that I turned it inside out, so to hide the seams, and began to fill with the polyester filling. Every so often, I would stop, hold the top closed, and roll the pillow like I was going to put it into a stuff sack. Then I would put it against my head. I kept adding filling until I felt a good amount of loft from the pillow, and it still rolled up small. Then I turned down the top and triple stitched it as well. Then I made a small stuff sack for the pillow, and I triple stitched all the seams of it as well, then added a cinch cord and cord lock. I will weigh it tomorrow and post the weight.

    Enjoy the pictures,
    -Ryan

that looks incredible ! aweasome work
Dale Gribble: I'm thinking, "new hammock." For me, laying and swaying in a hammock is like a steady morphine drip without the risk of renal failure.

Randy : yea but just remember yer roots and where ya come from....you got Hennessy in yer blood son......

Thanks, I think so too, especially since I just started sewing ripstop today with a hammock, and before that my sewing experience was limited to 1 test hammock made of cheap walmart material.

Edit: Also made one VERY crude tarp.

I use a travel pillow for my hammock. It is easier to move around than a full size bed pillow. I have bought a few travel pillow cases for it and also made a few myself. Works great.

    nice job.
I currently just use an inflatable pillow, as it packs nice and small, and I can easily adjust the firmness as desired.
    Nice project though, looks great

Been thinkin of something along these lines, but I think I will be using fleece for one side.

I like to have something a bit warmer against my face.
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives.
