    thanks guys. The swimming spot is called "the haystacks", for the appearance of the rock formation in the stream. It's only about 2 miles from the north/east end of the trail. It was a brief respite for sore feet for sure.

    thanks knotty and sbd. on future hikes we'll likely implement this same format but just do more of it. we left out all of the hard work, climbs, and descents. we talked about this in length during our trip and figured this would be the coolest way to share our adventure w/ everyone...
