Howdy. I'm a-gonna do this. Is the line on my HH Backpacker A-Sym thin enough that I can attach it directly to the buckle or should I replace with cord as shown? If I can use the stock line, what's the best way to do that?
Also, I'm ordering some Strapworks webbing as suggested and it gives choices for loop size. What's optimal?

Oh -- one more question. If I need to use cord, any suggestions for where to buy and what is an inexpensive option? Weight is not important.

I use Dutch Clips, so I went with a 1" loop. Even without Dutch Clips, more than 2" may be overkill, IMHO. If you're not using a 'biner and you're running the strap back through the loop, then I think 2" will suffice.Originally Posted by sam handwich

+1 on 2 inch loops
It is the stock option on AHE and I use it with carabiners, I've used it with Dutch Clips, and have run the working end through it and each has worked fine.
As far as how to attach the line to the buckle, I have no experience as to whether the stock line will be thin enough, but if it is; double or triple fisherman's knot will work.
Knot the line so you have a loop at the end of it just off center. You then girth hitch the newly formed loop to the buckle.
Cool. I went with 1" loops, 20' for each end -- figured 1" webbing fits through easily. Also ordered 4 cinches (dang $10 minimum), and 10" of spyderline. Can't wait to get it all!
Slept in my hammock for the first time in ages in the front yard last night. Some adjustments to make, but overall a good night.
Hm, well...my order already shipped, but I'm thinking it shouldn't be too difficult to get the webbing through the 1" loop.
