After an aborted try at sealing the inner side of the panel pull stitching on my BMJ tarp with a poorly combined mixture of GE silicone and mineral spirits, I went and bought some Permatex Flowable Silicone and possibly over-sealed the outer stitching.
All in all, it added an ounce to my tarp, bringing the whole thing, including tensioners and guylines, up to 18 ounces. Depending on how much of a gram counter you are, this may or may not be a big deal, but an ounce just from a few lines of silicone sealant seems like a lot of weight!
I think I put too much Permatex on- does anyone know of any way to remove or scrape off the excess silicone without damaging the tarp?
